Each light charges from the sun during the day and switches itself on at dusk. There's nothing to plug in and no cable to run along the fence, so you can mount them anywhere the sun reaches — along a fence line, a deck railing or beside the driveway.
Open at the top and bottom, each unit throws a beam upward and another down the fence board. A row of them gives you a repeating pattern of light along the whole run rather than a single bright spot.
About 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight gives you up to 5 hours of light after dark. The battery is built in, so there's nothing to replace.
